The results of control over the fulfillment of "Updated Actions to Reduce Consequences of Beyond Design Basis Accidents at NPPs" (hereinafter Actions) implemented by the interregional territorial departments for supervision of nuclear and radiation safety of Rostechnadzor did not reveal any unfulfilled actions scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2014.

Within the reporting period, additional NPP safety assessments and analyses under extreme external effects were carried out following the results of stress tests and reviews done by SEC NRS. In particular, final lists of BDBAs for the NPP units with VVER-1000 and VVER-440 were developed for the Novovoronezh, Rostov, Kola, Balakovo and Kalinin nuclear plants. The analysis of BDBAs with in-depth safety assessment for the NPP units with RBMKs showed that the list of BDBAs recommended in RB-001-05 is sufficient and covers all types of unlikely and extremely unlikely events that may cause BDBAs.

As to enhancement of seismic safety of the NPPs, additional research and analysis of the NPP seismic microzoning documents were implemented. For Smolensk Units 1 and 3, reactor seismic protection systems were put into experimental commercial operation.

As to provision of emergency I&C for the NPP units designed to operate under BDBA conditions, a resolution about introduction of I&C which would be able to function under BDBA conditions at the NPPs with RBMKs was developed and approved. For the NPPs with VVERs, lists of external impacting factors and updated technical requirements to I&C and accessories were developed.

Methodology of analysis of ice building in the emergency cooling pipes of the NPP equipment in winter conditions was developed.

As to the development and implementation of the designs of a unified radio communication system using the TETRA standard based on the Motorola IP Dimetra Compact platform, the systems was put into operation at all the existing NPPs and crisis centre.

As to the development and revision of the emergency documentation, guides on severe accident management were developed for Balakovo Units 1, 2 and 3, Kola, Nonovoronezh and Rostov 2.
