Rostechnadzor and Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority Develop a New Cooperation Agreement

Rostechnadzor and the Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority note that a new cooperation on agreement between them is about to be prepared. This was a main topic of the discussion at the September 18 meeting between Alexey Ferapontov, Acting Chairman of Federal Environmental, Industrial and Nuclear Supervision Service (Rostechnadzor), and Gyula Fichtinger, Director General of the Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority.

"In late 2012, your authority proposed to prepare for signing a new interagency agreement on cooperation, which would replace the current one. Considering the administrative changes we have seen in Russia and Hungary since 2001, and also the lessons learnt from the Fukushima-Daiichi accident in Japan, Rostechnadzor supported that proposal and earlier in February this year prepared and sent a draft of the new agreement to your international relations department", Ferapontov noted.

The parties agreed to continue their work on the document and complete it by the end of the year.

"We are very interested in the Russian regulatory experience and hope to use it within the cooperation between our regulatory organizations," said Gyula Fichtinger in his turn.
