Rostechnadzor took part in the Second Extraordinary Meeting of the Contracting Parties to the Convention on Nuclear Safety
In a period of August 27 to 31, 2012, at the IAEA Headquarters in Vienna, Austria, Rostechnadzor representatives headed by Chairman Nikolay Kutin and within the delegation of the Russian Federation took part in the Second Extraordinary Meeting of the Contracting Parties to the Convention on Nuclear Safety which reviewed the Member States' national reports.
In the course of the meeting, the parties discussed lessons learnt from the Fukushima Daiichi accident in Japan, actions taken and planned to improve safety of the NPPs, and addressed the effectiveness of the CNS statements.
As a result of the meeting, the Contracting Parties resolved to establish an "effectiveness and transparency" open-ended working group which will present a list of actions aimed at strengthening the CNS and proposals for amending the CNS at the next CNS meeting. Besides, during their stay in Vienna, the Rostechnadzor representatives had a series of working meetings with representatives of OECD/NEA, EC, France, Germany, Turkey and others to discuss issues of cooperation in the field of nuclear and radiation safety.
