Rostechnadzor held an annual session with Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority of Finland
On February 25, 2015, an annual meeting with Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority of Finland (STUK) was held in Moscow to evaluate the results of the cooperation activity in 2014 and to agree upon the joint activities program for 2015. Deputy Chairman of Rostechnadzor, Alexey Ferapontov and Director-General of STUK, Petteri Tiippana took part in the meeting.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged information on the most important activities of Rostechnadzor and STUK, as well as on events in the nuclear power industry of Russia and Finland. The meeting noted that pursuant to the 2014 cooperation program, 7 joint workshops were held addressing such issues as: regulation of NPP nuclear and radiation safety, supervision over accounting, control and physical protection of nuclear material, and safety regulation of nuclear fuel cycle facilities. Within one of those workshops, Rostechnadzor’s specialists were involved in the STUK inspection to NPP Olkiluoto-3, which is presently being constructed.
The parties admitted the effective bilateral cooperation on a wide range of issues and have agreed to further promote active partnership in the field of regulation of nuclear and radiation safety. That way, 10 joint activities are now planned for 2015.
The meeting between Rostechnadzor and STUK resulted in a decision to set up, within the framework of the bilateral cooperation, a working group on AES-2006 designs.Following the meeting, the STUK delegation visited the Information Analytical Centre of Rostechnadzor and got acquainted with its activities.
