Rostechnadzor-ASN Workshop on Periodic Safety Assessment and Post-Fukushima Actions
On July 7 and 8, 2015, a joint workshop between Rostechnadzor and the French nuclear authority ASN took place as part of the bilateral cooperation programme to discuss approaches to NPP periodic safety assessment (PSA) and technical requirements to NPP safety after the stress tests performed. Rostechnadzor was represented by the HQ and SEC NRS staff members. The French delegation included representatives of the ASN HQ and the Embassy of France in Moscow.
The first day of the workshop was dedicated to sharing information on experience and methods relating to periodic safety assessment for the NPPS in France and Russia. The French party also reported on inspection activities carried our within PSA (containment pressure tests, primary circuit hydrostatic and acoustic tests).
During the second day, the parties discussed the implementation of post-Fukushima actions in Russia and France. Rostechnadzor and ASN presented details of legal changes and upgrading performed at the NPPs in both countries in order to manage emergencies that might be caused by external events.
As a result of the workshop, the parties noted the efficiency of the bilateral cooperation between Rostechnadzor and ASN on the issues of NPP safety regulation and confirmed their mutual interest in continuation of interagency collaboration in this area.
Rostechnadzor and ASN cooperate under the 2000 interagency arrangement for the exchange of information and co-operation in the area of regulation of safe nuclear energy use for peaceful purposes.
