Rostechnadzor took part in International Conference on Effective Nuclear Regulatory Systems: Sustaining Improvements Globally
15.04.2016 An International Conference on Effective Nuclear Regulatory Systems: Sustaining Improvements Globally took place in Vienna, Austria, on 11-15 April 2016 and was attended by a delegation of Rostechnadzor led by Deputy Chairman of Rostechnadzor Alexey Ferapontov.
The Conference had a form of opening and closing plenaries, and five topical sessions: “Regulatory Lessons Learned and Actions Taken”, “Challenges in Regulating Nuclear Installations”, “Challenges in Regulating Radiation Sources and Radioactive Waste”, “Strengthening International Cooperation” and “Strengthening Regulatory Competence” with a number of panel discussions.
During the topical session “Challenges in Regulating Nuclear Installations”, Alexey Ferapontov delivered a speech “Contribution of Rostechnadzor in Implementing the State Nuclear Safety Policy” and took part in discussions on that topic.
Also, within the topical session “Regulatory Lessons Learned and Actions Taken”, Deputy Head of Department for Safety Regulation of Nuclear Plants and Research Nuclear Installations Alexander Sapozhnikov presented a poster “Experience Transformed into Nuclear Regulatory Improvements in Russia”.This International Conference was organized by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and was the fourth in a series of conferences on Effective Nuclear Regulatory Systems. The three preceding conferences were held in Canada (Ottawa) in 2013, RSA (Cape Town) in 2009 and the Russian Federation (Moscow) in 2006. The 2016 Conference served to considering conclusions and deliberations of these events and aimed at playing a vital part in strengthening global nuclear safety.
