Deputy Chairman Alexey Ferapontov held a meeting with a delegation of the Nuclear Energy Agency of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD/NEA)
On 17 May 2016, Deputy Chairman Alexey Ferapontov held a meeting with a delegation of the Nuclear Energy Agency of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD/NEA) at Rostechnadzor HQ. The OECD/NEA delegation was headed by the recently appointed heads of the Division of Nuclear Safety Technology and Regulation Mr Ho Nieh and the Division of Human Aspects of Nuclear Safety Ms Yeonhee Hah. The meeting was also attended by the managing staff members of the departments of Rostechnadzor HQ and representatives of SEC NRS and FSUE VO “Safety”.
The meeting included a comprehensive coverage of the system for state regulation of nuclear and radiation safety in the Russian Federation. In addition, presentations were made on the work of the Rostechnadzor HQ departments in charge of the safety regulatory activities in the field of the use of atomic energy and Rostechnadzor’s scientific and technical support organisations SEC NRS and FSUE VO “Safety”, including the activity connected with support of the regulatory authorities from the nuclear newcomer countries.
In conclusion, the OECD/NEA delegation visited the Information and Analysis Centre of Rostechnadzor.
The Agency’s representatives noted the usefulness and information value of their visit, importance of further cooperation between Rostechnadzor and OECD/NEA, and a broad range of work implemented by Rostechnadzor and its scientific and technical support organisations, including assistance rendered to the nuclear newcomer countries in establishing and developing their national nuclear safety regulation systems.
The programme of the OECD/NEA delegation’s stay in Russia also includes a visit to the State Corporation Rosatom, Leipunsky Institute of Physics and Power Engineering, Rosatom Central Institute for Continuing Education and Training, the operating Leningrad NPP and the Leningrad NPP-2 under construction in the town of Sosnovy Bor of Leningrad Region.
