Rostechnadzor took part in the MDEP Policy Group meeting
A delegation of Federal Environmental, Industrial and Nuclear Supervision Service (Rostechnadzor) headed by its Deputy Chairman Alexey Ferapontov took part in an annual meeting of Policy Group (PG) of Multinational Design Evaluation Programme (MDEP), which took place on 23-24 May 2016 in Finland, Helsinki.
Along with Rostechnadzor, the members of MDEP are representatives of nuclear safety regulators of the UK, Hungary, India, Canada, China, UAE, Republic of Korea, USA, Turkey, Finland, France, Sweden, RSA and Japan. The OECD Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) performs the technical secretariat function in support of the MDEP.
PG members discussed the results and plans of further activities of the MDEP working groups, including proposals to put the Codes and Standards Working Group and Digital I&C Working Group “under the umbrella” of NEA.
The meeting resulted in an agreed program of future activities within MDEP and approved new revision of the MDEP Terms of Reference, which among other things now includes issues of new NPPs commissioning and exchange of non-disclosure and proprietary information.
On 24 May, the meeting participants visited Olkiluoto-3 NPP with EPR reactor, which is in construction phase, a radioactive waste deep disposal facility Onkalo also being under construction and LLW storage facility in operation.
