Rostechnadzor participates in the regular IAEA 60th General Conference
The Rostechnadzor delegation led by Deputy Chairman, Alexey Ferapontov as part of the delegation of the Russian Federation participated in the 60th IAEA General Conference (GC) opened on September 26, 2016, in Vienna, Austria.
During the GC, delegation members attended the opening plenary session, plenary meeting of the Global Nuclear Safety and Security Network (GNSSN), the signature ceremony of the Terms of Reference of European and Central Asian Safety Network and a meeting on Nuclear Capacity Building and Efficient Training Delivery.
On the sidelines of the GC, bilateral meetings took place between Rostechnadzor and representatives of the regulatory bodies from Finland, Jordan, Hungary, Indonesia, Belorussia, Morocco and Canada, in course of which the parties exchanged information on issues of mutual interest.
Alongside this, the Rostechnadzor delegation held a meeting with Juan Carlos Lentijo, Deputy Director General and Head of Department of Nuclear Safety and Security. Mr. Lentijo marked the work of Rostechnadzor in various IAEA events very high and expressed his hope for active development and reinforcing future cooperation between Rostechnadzor and the IAEA, what will provide substantial contribution to strengthening the global nuclear safety regime.
On 29 September, Alexey Ferapontov took part in a Senior Regulators’ Meeting as a member of panel discussions in Session 3 “Regulatory Readiness of Countries Embarking on a Nuclear Power Programme”. In Session 1 “Geological Disposal of Radioactive Waste – the licensing process” Evgeniy Kudryavtsev, Department Head of Rostechnadzor delivered a presentation “The Basis for Decisions and the Regulator/Operator Dialogue during the Licensing Process”.On 30 September, the 60th IAEA General Conference is to accomplish its work.
