Rostechnadzor Delegation Attends OECD NEA Workshop on Stakeholder Involvement in Nuclear Decision Making
The Workshop on Stakeholder Involvement in Nuclear Decision Making organized by the Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) is taking place between January 17 and 19, 2017, in Paris, France.
The workshop is attended by the delegation of Federal Environmental, Industrial and Nuclear Supervision Service headed by Deputy Chairman Alexey Ferapontov.
The program of the workshop includes reports by invited speakers, group discussions and eight topical sessions as follows:
- Legal frameworks and international conventions
- Regulatory perspectives
- Radiological protection
- Radioactive waste management
- New nuclear facilities
- Extended operations of nuclear facilities
- Stakeholder involvement in other sectors
- Media and stakeholder involvement
The topical session “Regulatory perspective” held on January 17 featured Alexey Ferapontov’s report on Russian approach to stakeholder involvement in nuclear decision making.
The workshop is attended by over a hundred delegates from the OECD NEA member countries, international organizations and other interested parties.
The Russian Federation has been a full-fledged member of the OEACD NEA since January 1, 2013. Rostechnadzor and the nuclear regulators of the NEA member countries participate in the activities of the CNRA. The Russian Federation is represented by the State Corporation Rosatom in the other OECD NEA committees.
