Rostechnadzor Attends 24th Annual VVER Forum meeting
24th annual meeting of the Forum of Nuclear Safety Authorities of the Countries Operating VVER Type Reactors (VVER Forum) took place on 2-4 May 2017 in Isfahan, Iran. The VVER Forum was attended by the Rostechnadzor delegation led by Deputy Chairman Alexey Ferapontov.
Also, the VVER Forum was attended by the senior officials and experts from the nuclear safety regulatory bodies of Bulgaria, China, Czech Republic, Finland, Hungary, Iran, India, Slovakia and Ukraine, with Belarus, Germany and the IAEA participating as observers.
The sessions included updates on the most safety significant and relevant occurrences in the VVER nuclear plants. The participants also shared information on the changes in nuclear and radiation safety regulation they had had since the 23rd VVER Forum that was held in July 2016, in Murmansk, Russia.
Alexey Ferapontov delivered a presentation on most significant achievements of Rostechnadzor with respect to VVER nuclear plants attained from July 2016 to May 2017. Sergey Oschepkov made a presentation on the most safety relevant occurrences that had taken place at Russian VVER NPPs in the period of July 2016 - May 2017, while Oleg Kavun and Andrey Obushev reported on the activity of the VVER Forum working groups they were leading, i.e. Working Group on Reactor Physics and Working Group on Ageing Management of NPPs with VVER Reactors.The next VVER Forum meeting is to be held in Belarus, tentatively in May 2018.
