Deputy Chairman Takes Part in Special Session of Commission of CIS Member States for Peaceful Uses of Atomic Energy
July 20, 2017. The special session of the Commission of CIS Member States for Peaceful Uses of Atomic Energy was held in Astana, Kazakhstan. The session was attended by Rostechnadzor Deputy Chairman Alexey Ferapontov.
Among other issues, the program of the session included discussions as follows:
- actual implementation of the Agreement on joint use of the experimental complex on the basis of the Kazakh Tokamak for Material Testing and updated international research program;
- implementation of the Interstate Target Program “Rehabilitation of territories affected by uranium mining productions” and inclusion of legacy facilities located in the territory of Kazakhstan in this program;
- draft provision on cooperation between the Commission of CIS Member States for Peaceful Uses of Atomic Energy and the Interstate Council on Standardization, Metrology and Certification; and
- draft concept of implementation of the proposal for employment of the technology of generating method for production of yttrium-90 preparation and creation of pharmaceutical production on its basis in the CIS countries.
The theoretical and practical conference “Prospects of implementation of innovative small and medium advanced power reactor designs in the CIS countries” was timed to the session. The conference heard reports on Russian reactor designs made by OKBM Afrikantov, AKME-engineering, Gidropress, NIKIET and the Kurchatov Institute.
