Delegation of OECD/NEA held seminar at Rostechnadzor
A delegation of the Nuclear Energy Agency under the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD/NEA) led by Head of the Division of Nuclear Safety Technology and Regulation Ho Nieh visited Rostechnadzor on 16 November 2017. The visit purpose was to demonstrate the applications of OECD/NEA outputs as exemplified by Committee on Nuclear Regulatory Activities (CNRA) and Committee for the Safety of Nuclear Installations (CSNI) documents as well as to learn about the existing practice of implementation of OECD/NEA products in Rostechnadzor.
Specialists of Rostechnadzor led by Deputy Chairman Alexey Ferapontov took part in the seminar with the OECD/NEA delegation. He briefed on the activity of Rostechnadzor in the field of safety regulation of atomic energy use in the Russian Federation.
OECD/NEA specialists delivered presentations on highlights of Proceedings of the 13th International Workshop on Inspection Practices held on 17-21 April 2016 in Bruges, Belgium and WGRISK report «Probabilistic Safety Assessment Insights Relating to the Loss of Electrical Sources». During the further discussions, the parties exchanged on the practical applications of NEA documents and discussed possible areas of future cooperation, including joint activities.
To the conclusion, the parties agreed over the importance of further application of the NEA information resources and promotion of NEA publications.
According to the program of the visit to Russia for 17 November, the NEA delegation is attending OJSC Baltic Shipyard – Shipbuilding in Saint Petersburg in order to get acquainted with the construction progress of the floating nuclear power plant as part of the floating nuclear cogeneration plant and also a nuclear icebreaker Arktika.
