Rostechnadzor Takes Part in Annual Meeting with Finnish STUK
The delegation of Federal Environmental, Industrial and Nuclear Supervision Service headed by Deputy Chairman Alexey Ferapontov took part in the annual meeting with STUK, the radiation and nuclear safety authority of Finland, on 28 February 2018 at the STUK headquarters in Helsinki. The meeting was organized to summarize the cooperation between the two agencies in 2017 and plan joint events in 2018.
The parties shared information on the most significant events in the activities of Rostechnadzor and STUK, and nuclear industries of Russia and Finland. The parties touched upon issues connected with the graphite stack situation at the units of Leningrad-1, results of the performed tests and inspections at Leningrad-2, lifetime extension of Kola Units 1 and 2, implementation of the underground research laboratory project in the Nizhne-Kansk massif, the licensing status of the Hanhikivi-1 and the progress of Olkiluoto Unit 3 construction.
Following on from the results of the meeting, Rostechnadzor and STUK agreed a programme of bilateral workshops on regulatory issues of NPPs and nuclear fuel cycle facilities, and accounting, control and security of nuclear materials, radioactive waste and radiation sources to be held in 2018. The parties agreed that Rostechnadzor representatives would participate as observers in the inspections at the Loviisa NPP in April 2018, in Finland.
