Rostechnadzor Attends 43rd Meeting of IAEA Commission on Safety Standards

The 43rd meeting of the IAEA Commission on Safety Standards (CSS) took place on April 11 to 13, 2018, in Vienna, Austria. It was attended by the Rostechnadzor delegation headed by Deputy Chairman Alexey Ferapontov, a CSS standing member for the Russian Federation.
The meeting addressed the implementation of the outcomes of the 42nd CSS meeting and reports made by the chairs of the Safety Standard Committees – the Waste Safety Standards Committee (WASSC), the Radiation Safety Standards Committee (RASSC), the Transport Safety Standards Committee (TRASSC), the Nuclear Safety Standards Committee (NUSSC), the Emergency Preparedness and Response Standards Committee (EPReSC), and the chair of the IAEA Nuclear Security Guidance Committee (NSGC) reported on the activities of their committees in the reporting period.
In line with the agenda, the members approved the draft publications and document preparation profiles presented by the relevant committees.
On the last day of the meeting, the regulatory authorities of India and South Africa informed the IAEA on the use of the IAEA Safety Standards in their activities.
The next CSS meeting is scheduled for November 2018.
The IAEA CSS is a standing body of senior officials from the national regulatory agencies whose competence covers development and introduction of documents on nuclear and radiological safety, safe transportation and waste treatment. The CSS meetings are held biannually.
