Rostechnadzor Meets with China’s National Nuclear Safety Administration in Beijing
The Rostechnadzor delegation headed by Deputy Chairman Alexey Ferapontov took part in the Joint Coordination Meeting and Workshop with the National Nuclear Safety Administration of the People’s Republic of China on April 23 and 24, 2019, in Beijing.
The parties exchanged regulatory news, drew conclusions of their cooperation over the past two years and identified topics of their future joint events.
The parties also held a joint workshop on safety regulation in the areas of ageing management and service life extension of VVER NPPs, nuclear equipment non-destructive testing, and safety regulation of nuclear fuel reprocessing plants.
On April 25, 2019, the Rostechnadzor delegation took a technical visit to the Fuqing NPP in the Fujian Province, specifically to Unit 5 with a Chinese design HPR1000 reactor, which is currently under construction, its reactor hall and main control room, where the Russian delegates were informed about the progress of work prior to the cold run phase.
Commercial operation of Fuqing 5 and 6 with HPR1000 reactors is expected to start in 2020 and 2021, respectively.
