Chairman Aleshin Meets Egyptian Ambassador
11.07.2019 On July 9, 2019, Alexey Aleshin, Chairman of Federal Environmental, Industrial and Nuclear Supervision Service (Rostechnadzor), met with Mr. Ihab Nasr, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the Russian Federation.
The parties discussed prospects for establishing cooperation between Russia and Egypt in the field of industrial safety regulation.
Opening the meeting, Alexey Aleshin noted that Russia and Egypt have enjoyed long-standing friendly relations and a number of important strategic projects implemented over the years. The cooperation between the two countries continues to develop. The implementation of new joint projects is planned, including the construction of the first nuclear power plant in Egypt.
H.E. Ihab Nasr, in his turn, stressed that the Arab Republic of Egypt is interested in expanding contacts with the Russian Federation in many areas. Collaboration on industrial safety regulation issues may be of interest to relevant agencies.
During the meeting, the Egyptian party was given general information about the structure, powers and priorities of Rostechnadzor. Chairman Aleshin also reported on how the Service implements the remote monitoring system for technological processes at hazardous production facilities and the Electronic Inspector software product in support of the agency’s supervisory activities in the field of industrial safety regulation.
The parties mutually agreed that a more detailed study of the issue of establishing cooperation in the field of industrial safety regulation at the expert level would be desirable.
In conclusion, Chairman Aleshin invited the ambassador to the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the foundation of the Russian mining and industrial supervision service.
Rostechnadzor currently interacts with the Egyptian regulatory authority for nuclear and radiological safety in the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding signed in Cairo on November 19, 2015, in the presence of President of the Arab Republic of Egypt Abdel-Fattah el-Sisi.
