Rostechnadzor holds meetings with regulatory authorities of Myanmar and Ethiopia

Representatives of the Federal Environmental, Industrial and Nuclear Supervision Service and its technical support organizations held two meetings via video conference in the framework of implementation of provisions of Memorandums of Understanding with regulatory authorities for nuclear and radiation safety of Myanmar and Ethiopia on August 20, 2025.

Information on the activities of Rostechnadzor and technical support organizations was presented to the Ministry of Science and Technology of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar. The issues facing the regulator in development of a national regulatory framework in the use of atomic energy, the independence of the regulatory authority and provision of technical support to it were discussed.

Representatives of Rostechnadzor confirmed the readiness to share experience in development of legal and regulatory documents by reviewing and providing possible comments to the draft of the legal and regulatory documents of Myanmar.

During the meeting with Ethiopian Technology Authority the proposals on providing assistance to the Ethiopian side in development of its national regulatory system were considered in details, including the forms of such assistance: webinars, on-the-job trainings and technical visits of Ethiopian specialists to Russia, as well as the facilities may be visited.

Following the meeting, both sides agreed to continue cooperation in organizing joint events.

The cooperation of regulatory authorities for nuclear and radiation safety of Russia and Myanmar is implemented in the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Federal Environmental, Industrial and Nuclear Supervision Service (the Russian Federation) and the Ministry of Science and Technology of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar on cooperation in the field of nuclear and radiation safety regulation in the peaceful use of atomic energy (signed on March 4, 2025).

The cooperation of regulatory authorities for nuclear and radiation safety of Russia and Ethiopia is implemented in the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Federal Environmental, Industrial and Nuclear Supervision Service (the Russian Federation) and Ethiopian Technology Authority (the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia) on cooperation in the field of nuclear and radiation safety regulation in the peaceful use of atomic energy (signed in Addis Ababa on February 7, 2024).
