Rostechnadzor delegation begins work at 69th Session of IAEA General Conference

The delegation of the Federal Environmental, Industrial and Nuclear Supervision Service led by the agency’s chairman, Alexander Trembitsky, has begun work at the 69th Session of the IAEA General Conference, which opened on September 15, 2025, in Vienna.
During the opening ceremony, UN Secretary-General António Guterres and IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi addressed the conference participants with welcoming remarks. At the plenary session, Alexey Likhachev, Director General of the State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom, headed the Russian delegation. On the first day of the General Conference, the Russian delegation met with IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi, and a ceremonial opening and tour of the Russian exhibition stand dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the nuclear industry took place. During the General Conference, a working meeting is scheduled between Alexander Trembitsky and IAEA Deputy Director General and Director of the IAEA Department of Nuclear Safety and Security, Karine Hervieu, as well as a series of meetings with the management of regulatory bodies of China, Ethiopia, Kazakhstan, Myanmar, Vietnam, and Uzbekistan. The Rostechnadzor delegation will also take part in other events related to the IAEA General Conference, such as the plenary session of the Regulatory Cooperation Forum, the meeting of the Global Network for Nuclear Safety and Security, the meeting of senior regulatory officials, the 25th anniversary of the International Project on Innovative Nuclear Reactors and Fuel Cycles (INPRO), the meeting of the Management Board of the Multinational Design Evaluation Programme (MDEP), and others.
The 69th Session of the IAEA General Conference will continue until 19 September 2025.
