Rostechnadzor takes part in international meetings in Tashkent

17.12.2025 Rostechnadzor participated in the work of the Council of Senior Representatives of Nuclear Safety Regulatory Bodies of the CIS Member States and the Commission of the CIS Member States on the Peaceful Uses of Atomic Energy, which took place on December 16 and 17, respectively, in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
The fifth meeting of the Council brought together representatives of regulatory bodies of the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as the Executive Committee of the Commission of the CIS Member States on the Peaceful Uses of Atomic Energy.
The participants exchanged information on significant safety developments in national regulatory and licensing activities, as well as opinions on cooperation in the field of nuclear safety regulation. They also discussed the 2026 action plan, including:
- identifying areas and directions in which it would be appropriate to harmonize rules and regulations;
- activities of the working group established to develop regulations on information exchange and interaction between regulators in the area of nuclear and radiation safety in the event of accidents.
The twenty-sixth meeting of the Commission was attended by delegations from the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as representatives of the Executive Committee of the ATOM-CIS Commission.
The participants discussed current issues regarding the further development of cooperation, as well as approved documents and initiative proposals as follows:
- Final Report on the Implementation of the Interstate Target Program “Rehabilitation of Territories of States Affected by Uranium Mining Production”;
- Scientific Research Program for the Kazakhstan Material Science Tokamak KTM for 2027 to 2029;
- The program for joint research between scientific organizations based on a multipurpose fast neutron research reactor for the period from 2028 to 2040;
- The report on information exchange in the field of safety of nuclear research facilities for 2024 and 2025;
- The program for additional training for faculty members of specialized universities, “Small Nuclear Power Plants – Key Aspects and Life Cycle”;
- The report on the implementation of the Priority Action Plan for the first stage (2021 to 2025) of the Framework Program for Cooperation in the Peaceful Uses of Nuclear Energy through 2030;
- The initiative to develop a draft concept for the “Association of Cities and Other Settlements Impacted by Uranium Mining Facilities.”
The next meetings are scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026 in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
